So Far 2018 Is Going to Be a Great Year For Bicycles

So many GREAT things are happening this year for us and we are excited to share it all with you! Groups/Businesses can book basic maintenance classes or in street rider training with us and the Co-op is almost ready to open to the public.

It Has Been a Good Year For Giving Away Bicycles to Kids

It has been a really good year here at Lake City Bicycle Collective! We officially became a 501c3 Non-Profit on February 27th, 2017 which meant we could help more children (and others in need) than the few neighborhood kids we have been.

City of Coeur d’Alene Finds Us a Space

Exciting news! The City of Coeur d’Alene has found us a space to create the bike co-op and further provide our services to the community. We are just waiting patiently until the current tenants have moved and we can start to move in.

Help Us Provide Bicycles to Kids

Who Are We

We are a non-profit community bike shop and cooperative that refurbishes used donated bicycles, provides bicycle safety programs, in street rider training, and bike maintenance courses.

Mission

We believe that everyone should have access to a bicycle, a tool to create opportunity and empowerment.

What We Do

A bicycle creates a feeling of connectedness to the community.

Our programs make this attainable by refurbishing bicycles that might otherwise end up in the Kootenai County landfill. Instead of becoming garbage the bikes are returned to people in North Idaho communities at low and often times no cost.

Why We Do What We Do

How old were you when you got your first bike? How did it make you feel?

Some children in our community will never experience that feeling.

We believe that EVERY child should feel the wind on their face and the accomplishment of learning how to ride for the first time.

How You Can Help Us

Donate a Bicycle

  • Donate your gently used bicycles to be re-cycled back into the community.
  • Sponsor a bike – give cash to help us re-cycle a bicycle

Donate Your Time

  • Can you spare a few hours of your time to help in the bicycle shop?
  • Want to help with one of our bicycle education programs?

Donate Money

  • To buy bicycle parts and pieces to fix donated bikes
  • To purchase educational materials and/or provide program funding

How We Do What We Do

Bicycles are either sold at an affordable price, (based on a person’s ability to pay), given to children, and given at no cost to other community help organizations we partner with.

The bicycles that are sold provide funds to continue to provide free bicycles to children, free bicycle education classes, and free training on bicycle maintenance.

Next Steps…

Consider donating the bicycles collecting dust in your garage, volunteer to help, or donations of cash are always accepted!
